After meeting and working together in Michelin starred restaurant The Peat Inn, two chefs decided to ditch the Michelin starred food and concentrate on their own passion of creating ‘the best burgers in town’. After the success of Burger Meats Bun in Glasgow, the Edinburgh establishment was opened on Forth Street.
As you can expect from any burger joint, the menu focuses on burgers! However a real pride comes over in the produce and seasonal ingredients. The burgers are priced between £8 -£10 with sides charged separately.
The restaurant itself has a very chilled, relaxed atmosphere. The décor is quite quirky with slogans written on the wall and little toy farm props dotted around the room. We were instantly greeted by a friendly waiter who explained the menu and made us feel at ease.
Since it was my first time at Burger Meats Bun I decided to stick to the traditional Beef pate and opted for the ‘Big Cheese’. The burger was served wrapped in paper; another quirky touch, but also a clever way to eliminate any washing up.
When I unwrapped it I was presented with a good looking burger in a brioche bun. The beef was cooked medium and was very juicy and tender. The sauce added an element of zing, however, my only complaint was that I felt the “Big Cheese” could have been more cheesy.
To accompany the burgers my friend and I shared two types of chips, ‘Maldon Sea Salt’ and ‘Thai Chili Cheese’. The second of the two were definitely our favorite. The chili’s on top added a fresh element, the sauce was spicy with a slight sweetness and the melted cheese brought it all together. There was a good helping and I would say that one portion is definitely enough for two to share.

The Maldon Sea Salt chips were slightly greasy but the seasoning was perfect.

We couldn’t manage dessert but I will leave room next time for their fresh cooked doughnuts. The burgers at Burger Meats Bun are definitely up there with the top burgers in Edinburgh.
